She thought she knew her story
The story she mistook for a fairy tale
She said she was the princess wearing a crown
Waiting for her prince in her castle up in the clouds
Yet her patience grew thin
As her knight in shining armor remains missing
Her castle no longer feels like home
A dreaded prison she needs to escape from
So she cut off her long, flowing locks
And ditched her embroidered gown
Standing naked in front of a mirror
She saw a woman grown
No prince or knight will come and save her
So she thought to escape her darkened castle
Wearing an armor made from light and shadows
She fought the monsters and villains that lived in her halls
Bloodied, bruised, and hurting
She stepped down and out from the castle, her prison
Stronger than when she was first brought in
She was no longer a princess but a queen proud and standing tall
